Coconut Hojicha Cloud

If you like coconut water, you'll love this drink recipe for a Coconut Hojicha Cloud.

What is a Coconut Hojicha Cloud?

A Coconut Hojicha Cloud is a refreshing iced drink that consists of coconut water and a fluffy cloud topping made with Hojicha Powder. This alternative to an iced hojicha latte is the perfect summer drink for coconut lovers.

How to make a Coconut Hojicha Cloud?

A Coconut Hojicha Cloud is made by first pouring coconut water over ice. This gives the coconut water plenty of time to cool, and in turn keep the layers separate. The hojicha cloud layer, also known as hojicha cream cold foam is made by whisking together Hojicha Powder, coconut cream, milk, and vanilla syrup. This cream foam is meant to be poured onto the coconut water, so it's important not to over whisk it into hojicha whipped cream. A hand-held frother is the perfect tool for the job, as it will ensure all the ingredients are fully combined with minimal clean up for a single or double serving.

Which coconut water is best for the Coconut Hojicha Cloud?

There are many brands of coconut water, or coconut juice, and not all are created equal. Some taste nutty or slightly sweet, while others taste salty or sour. In this recipe, we recommend using unsweetened coconut water that has a fresh and naturally sweet taste. Be sure to taste the coconut water first alone to make sure it is to your liking as it plays a huge role in this drink. If you're a fan of the taste of coconut but coconut water isn't usually your thing, try a different brand and you may be pleasantly surprised at how delicious it can be.

What is coconut cream?

Coconut cream is a thick and rich cream that replaces heavy whipping cream in the hojicha cloud for another level of coconut flavor. It is made from coconut and water, and sold in cans or cartons. Coconut cream can also be obtained by scooping the hardened cream from the top of a chilled can of full fat coconut milk. Depending on the brand of cream, more or less milk may be needed to create the ultimate creamy texture of the hojicha topping. For the best results, chill the coconut cream in the fridge overnight.

What other drinks can you top with the hojicha cloud?

The hojicha cloud is a tasty roasted green tea cream top that can be added to any of your favorite iced drinks. Try topping your next hojicha latte with a hojicha cloud for double the hojicha flavor, or adding it to an iced matcha latte, cold brew coffee, or pink strawberry milk.
